I’m an expert nature and mountein guide in Shiretoko, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site. For over two decades, I’ve been deeply involved in the region’s nature, including biodiversity surveys and serving as a university lecturer. With a Ph.D., I offer tours and lectures across eastern Hokkaido (Shiretoko, Akan-Mashu) that are backed by rich knowledge and scientific data. I have also made many media appearances showcasing Shiretoko’s wildlife and beauty.

I was born and raised in Hokkaido, and now I live and guide right here.
That’s why I can share the true charm of Hokkaido’s natural world—something only a local can offer.
Each season here is beautiful in its own way, always showing a different face of nature.
Let’s enjoy the great outdoors together!

- Canoeing
I first encountered canoeing at the age of 17. Since then, I have been walking the path of Canadian canoes for over 20 years. In 2010, I moved to Lake Shikotsu, where my current base of operations is located, and have been “creating a story that can only be told here” with three pillars: environmental conservation, tourism promotion, and regional revitalization. In the future, I aim to further develop Lake Shikotsu, while also using my experience in this area to help revitalize other regions.

Born in Furano, Hokkaido, I spent my childhood immersed in outdoor play year-round.
After traveling for about four years through New Zealand, Canada, and Australia, I returned home and began my career as an outdoor guide.
I started guiding for rafting and canoeing about 15 years ago, and I’m still guiding here in Furano today.
Exploring rivers like the Teshio, Ishikari, Biei, Chubetsu, Sorachi, Shisorapuchi, Nunobe, Mukawa, Yubari, Chitose, and Shiribetsu, among many others.
