I am experience working in outdoor education and mountain tourism. As a student I was a member of the Explorer’s Club at school, giving Tobaji numerous opportunities to explore the outdoors and travel overseas. This included a trip to Nepal, where he trekked Annapurna and rafted down the river of Karnali.I was once your typical Japanese “salaryman”, but decided to change up careers and work for an outdoor education provider, and later became a certified mountain guide. I fell in love with Daisetsuzan for its untouched nature and distinct seasonal beauty, and is excited to share my profound knowledge of the area. When I’m not guiding, I can be found canoeing or helping rice farmers and beekeepers in Higashikawa in the spring and autumn. Languages: Japanese (Native) / English (Fluent) / Swahili

In 2018, we introduced Adventure Hokkaido, offering cycling and hiking tours across Hokkaido in English. With a background in environment conservation from a university in NZ and a current role on the board of the Asian Ecotourism Network, I offera comprehensive guiding perspective.

I visited Hokkaido as a traveler and was so impressed by the wonderful nature and people of Hokkaido that I moved to Hokkaido and became a nature guide. After graduating from a graduate school, I became a nature guide in Noboribetsu in 2002, and have been working to connect people with nature, people with each other, environmental conservation, and human resource development from the local community.
